Search help

The search box at the top right of every page lets you find items for download, individual releases of items and news articles that match your search terms.

Tips

  • To search for whole words anywhere in the title or description of an item, release or news article, type those words into the search box and click "Search".
    • For example, try nhs clinical
    • Note that common words, such as "a", "an" and "as", are left out of the search.
    • Upper and lower case letters are considered equal - nhs will find everything containing the word "NHS".
  • To search for part of a word, use the asterisk (*) character.
    • For example, to find everything beginning with "nh", type nh*
  • To search only titles, type title: before the search term.
    • For example, to find everything with "national" in the title, type title:national
  • To search only descriptions, type text: before the search term.
    • For example, to find everything with "outpatient" in the description, type text:outpatient
  • To search only items for download, individual releases or news articles, type either type:item, type:release or type:news respectively, followed by "AND", followed by the search term.
    • For example, to find news articles containing the word "pathology", type type:news AND pathology
  • Sophisticated searches are possible.
    • For example, to find everything with "CDA" in the title and "outpatient" in the description, type title:cda AND text:outpatient
    • Try this (the question mark means "any single character"): (title:toolki* OR title:imagin?) AND (text:patient OR text:imaging)
